Heidi May, Head Nurse
Heidi obtained her Veterinary Nursing Degree in 1996 in South Africa (her home country) and worked in a wide range of veterinary clinics including a 24 hour one and a veterinary dental one. She worked as a nurse but also as a practice manager at Riverside Vet Clinic. In 2007, she moved to the UAE and worked at the Al Bustan Zoological Farm, Parrot Farm and Antelope Farm as a nurse, then as a manager. In 2013, she joined the USVC team and has been our head nurse since 2016.
She is passionate about animal rehabilitation and you will often see her getting into the water treadmill with her patients to encourage them on. She has three cats, a sun conure and some pet fish. In her free time, Heidi likes to go jogging and watch movies.
Aurianne graduated from the prestigious Veterinary School of Maison-Alfort, France, in 2004. She moved to Dubai in 2009 with her husband. She is our hospital nurse and enjoys looking after the in-patients. Aurianne has rescued many stray animals and is the proud owner a dog, 6 cats a rabbit and an iguana!
She relaxes by reading comics and going out with friends and enjoying fine food. When she is not working she enjoys watching Japanese cartoons with her husband and many animals. She is fluent in both English and French.
Dawn started her animal career in horses and rode a winner under Jockey Club Rules in the UK. She qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2004 and has worked in mixed practice for 10 years. She enjoys surgical nursing and dentistry, but has self funded voluntary work through the WVS and helped with projects in Malawi, Brazil and India. Dawn likes to get out and about and is a keen hill walker.
Her goal is to summit Kilimanjaro, but since arriving here in August 2012 she has gone from running a 5k to completing her first half marathon in December. When at home, she works and trains her cocker spaniel, Buidhe, and has a passion for photography and cooking.
Kaiya studied Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing at the Royal Veterinary College in London and qualified in 2010. She acquired the majority of her training and work experience at Battersea Cats & Dogs Home and at the PDSA. Then worked as a locum in various clinics in the UK. She moved to Dubai in 2013 to join the USVC team.
She is interested in work with cats and their handling. She has a 9 year old Boxer and a rescue Staffie. In her free time she likes to work out (TRX), read and listen to music.
After graduating with a Degree in Animal Science in 2007, Hannah worked as a student Veterinary Nurse at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London. She completed her NVQ in Veterinary Nursing in 2010 and went on to locum in several practices across London and the Channel Islands. Between positions she volunteered with several charities overseas including Animal Asia Bear Rescue Centre in China and in shelters for stray dogs and cats in Thailand, Sri Lanka and Borneo. She moved to Dubai to join the USVC team in 2014.
To unwind on her days off she likes to practice yoga, go stand up paddle boarding and watch movies.
Emma moved to Dubai in 2011 and joined the USVC team in 2012. She has a degree in Sport & Exercise Physiology and graduated in 2015 with an Australian Veterinary Nursing Diploma.
She loves her two cats Steve and Jeff, yoga, roller derby, and baking peanut butter cookies. She particularly enjoys dentistry and rehabilitation nursing.
Allison was born and raised in Scarborough but headed to Hampshire to pursue a career in Veterinary Nursing. She qualified in 2003 and joined the RVCS Register the following year.
Before joining USVC, she worked with a wide variety of species from equine to lizards. She has a particular interest in animal behavior and nutrition, and has gained further qualifications in these areas. In her previous job she focused on training the next generation of nurses. She moved to Dubai and joined the USVC team in 2015.
In her spare time she loves to travel and explore the world.
Martha graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing from University College Dublin.
She chose this profession because she loves animals and has never wanted any other sort of career. Rehabilitation medicine is particularly fascinating for her and she would like to bring it to the forefront of veterinary nursing aftercare. Martha also enjoys medical nursing. Outside of work she likes desert camping, reading, and pilates. She also loves to hike and has climbed the Tatra mountains in Poland. Her goal is to one day climb Kilimanjaro.
Martha has been in Dubai since May 2016.
Afeisha obtained her Veterinary Nursing degree in 2015 from the University of Brighton, England.
She previously worked in mixed practice and emergency out of hours hospital before making the move to come to Dubai. She is currently undertaking a certificate in Emergency and Critical Care which she is due to complete next year. She enjoys volunteering in animal charities abroad and is very keen on animal and environemental conservation.
In her spare time she likes to travel and explore her new city of Dubai
Brigitta is an ambitious Hungarian Biologist who is eager to follow her dreams. Since she was a little girl she has had great interest in animals. In 2013 Brigitta graduated from the University of Eszterházy Károly in Hungary with a major in Biology. During her studies she worked as an intern at an Aquarium situated in Budapest and later was hired to work as a full time staff member. After gaining experience working at the Aquarium, Brigitta made a career change and decided to move to Dubai in 2015 and to work at a veterinary clinic. In February 2016, she joined the Umm Suqeim Veterinary Centre as a Veterinary Nurse.
Hobbies: When Brigitte is in Hungary she spends a lot of her time training and tending to her 3 Yorkshire Terriers. Brigitta enjoys scuba diving and you will often find her trying extreme sports during her free time. She also enjoys salsa dancing and traveling.
Cristina is originally from Italy but lived in New Zealand for quite some years and graduated there with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in 2015. She worked in general practice (mixed practice) and then progressed to onto Emergency and Critical Care which is her big passion along with surgery.
She moved to Dubai in April 2017 to join the team at USVC,
She is currently completing a certificate in Emergency and Critical Care.
In her spare time, she enjoys numerous activities but has a huge passion for latin American dances.
Ryan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Nursing from the University College Dublin, Ireland in 2015. He remained in the University hospital for 2 years following this, working with both small and equine patients, whilst also training veterinary medicine and nursing students.
He moved to Dubai in July 2017 to join the team at Umm Suqeim Veterinary Centre.
Ryan is particularly interested in surgical nursing, and is planning to complete a certificate in wound management in the near future.
In his spare time, he enjoys dancing, photography and traveling.
Donna was born in the Philippines and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy. She moved to Dubai to join the USVC team in 2013 and has been our pharmacist.
We are lucky to have a full-time pharmacist, and the vets all feel very spoilt!
She works hard to make sure we have all the medicines we need. She has a lovely son: Yuan. In her spare time she likes to read and cook.
Emmanuel is a registered human nurse but decided to transit to veterinary nursing when coming to Dubai in 2012. He has been with USVC since then. He is a valuable member of the night team.
On his week off Emmanuel loves to read books and magazines.
Chris graduated as a human nurse in 2009 and because of his love for cats and dogs, he decided to change fields and now works as a veterinary nurse assistant.
He moved to Dubai and joined USVC in 2014.
In his free time he enjoys playing computer games.
Jose graduated as a human nurse in 1998.
He successfully transitioned to veterinary nursing and enjoys working with furry patients as a nurse assistant.
Since 2016 he started working nights.
On his days off, he enjoys target shooting, spending time with his wife, and is also an experienced parachuter.
